Things I Miss

I miss keeping score manually at bowling. I always loved the waxy pencils and the overhead-projector score sheets, and I was terribly proud of knowing how to properly tally a bowling score.

I miss a fish & chips place called The Fish Bowl, which used to be on Aurora near 145th. They closed probably 10 years ago, and I’ve yet to find another fish place as good.

I miss having the college cafeteria down in the basement.

I kind of miss the early days of the internet, when the WWW was only mentioned on two pages of the book “The Whole Internet”. Where I could gopher and FTP and telnet, and where I dialed up to BBS boards to chat and play dorky MUD games like Tele-Arena. It was a much simpler time.
